![]() The ideal condition for shooting a Plasma Cannon is against a wall and at least 2 tiles away from the desired target before firing in order to minimize risk.An incautious Spelunker can easily blow themselves up with the projectile or lurched back into a dangerous position with the recoil. With both its explosive capabilities and excessive recoil, the Plasma Cannon is as much of a threat to the user as it is to enemies. This is particularly the case in high score runs, where it can uncover massive quantities of treasure from the ground at little cost. The Plasma Cannon's massive capabilities for destruction make it an incredibly valuable tool to the player, allowing them to destroy Traps and enemies with ease. This explosion has the same potency as that of a bomb upgraded by a Powerpack, destroying up to three tiles in the cardinal directions. While not held by a user, Plasma Cannons explode if crushed or from making contact with lava. If used in conjunction with a Powerpack (2), Plasma Cannons will instead be able to fire after 1.23 seconds of recharging, and launch the user back only two tiles (none if they are riding a mount) after firing, massively increasing combat potential. This recoil is strong enough to launch the player off ropes, ladders, and even from the backs of Mounts.Īfter being fired, Plasma Cannons can be fired again after 2.48 seconds. Plasma Cannon projectiles may be reflected by Forcefields, Robots, Metal Shields, Olmec, or Olmites wearing golden masks, sending the projectile back at the user.įiring a Plasma Cannon launches the user an entire four tiles back with its recoil. The projectile itself deals 10 contact damage as well as 10 damage + 1 fire damage from the resultant explosion, totaling up to 21 damage in a single shot. When used, Plasma Cannons fire a fast moving ball of plasma that explodes on contact with the same radius of a bomb. The Plasma Cannon is the most powerful weapon in the game, capable of demolishing entire levels and turning most common enemies into smoldering chunks. If the player is lucky with a Shopkeeper Vault spawn, they may enter the vault and teleport from it using either a Teleporter or Telepack to inside the Moai to awaken the Eggplant Child without initially opening it, allowing one to continue into the later levels with them. The Plasma Cannon, as found in the Mothership. Opening The Moai with an Eggplant to reach the Eggplant Child. ![]() ![]() Placing an Eggplant upon the purple altar beside the Moai will prompt it to open, allowing the Spelunker to enter a newly created small hollow within the statue, which contains the Eggplant Child inside. In spite of these massive overhauls, the Moai remains an important part of The Ice Caves, as it must be entered in order to reach the Eggplant World. Because of this, there is no longer an Ankh symbol inscribed on its forehead and entering it is not a requirement for accessing The City of Gold.Īlso unlike the original Moai, it has been moved to the wall of the level, with its chin being the only structure on it that a player can stand on, with the blocks under it now destructible. Its ties to Ancient Egypt have been completely severed, as the Ankh is no longer used to enter it, nor does it award the Hedjet for entering. The Moai in Spelunky 2 is unlike its original incarnations in Spelunky HD and Spelunky Classic. It is always found in the top half of the level, next to a purple eggplant altar. The Moai is a structure that appears in the Ice Caves. After all these years, it's still mysterious and implacable.
